Aleksandra is a globally recognized geopolitical risk analyst specializing in emerging markets and China–Africa relations. In addition to founding Magpie Advisory, she is Senior Nonresident Fellow with the Atlantic Council in Washington D.C. and a member of The Singularity Group’s Expert Advisory Board. She is also author of the book, Africa and China: How Africans and Their Governments are Shaping Relations with China.

Previously, Aleksandra was senior analyst and internal head of African markets with responsAbility Investments. She has held senior advisory positions with global strategy firms Oxford Analytica and Control Risks, and has worked with the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, the G8 Research Group, the UNDP, and the Global Economic Governance Program at the University of Oxford. Aleksandra is a frequent political commentator on CNNMoney Switzerland, and her work appears regularly in academic and professional journals including The National Interest, China Review, Real Clear World, and the Journal of Eastern African Studies, among others. She holds a PhD and MPhil in Politics from the University of Oxford, and a BA from Northwestern University.
